The achievements of the global stadium and sports venue sector will be recognised with the launch of the industry’s first professional awards – the Stadium Business Awards.

Xperiology, the organiser of the industry’s Nordic Venue Forum and Stadium Business Summit meetings, has created the new industry awards that will recognise the professionalism, creativity and achievements of the sports venue sector and its leading practitioners.

“Over a decade ago I launched Stadia magazine to bridge the information gap in the global sports venue sector,” says Xperiology co-founder Ian Nuttall. “Since then, there has been an unprecedented level of investment in new sports facilities – which are today’s cathedrals of sporting religion. These stadiums, arenas and sports venues entice, entertain and enthrall millions, if not billions, of sports fans every year. But, to date, neither the leading sports venues, nor their management teams, have been saluted. Now is the time for the industry to showcase its own achievements and to also be recognised for those achievements at the Stadium Business Awards.”

“We are looking for the safest, the smartest, the most customer-friendly and the greatest stadium experiences on the planet. We are also looking for the best stadium operators – the individuals that consistently deliver great sporting events and customer service – and for the latest industry innovations,” he explains.

“We also want to identify the worst stadium on the planet – the one that really deserves renovation or demolition – and we are on the hunt for the most spectacular stadium management mistake, so that others can learn from their errors!”

“Anyone can nominate either an individual or a sports facility – they can even nominate themselves, or their own stadium. All entries will be considered on merit and will be judged by an independent panel of the industry’s leaders.”

The winners of the awards will be announced during the Stadium Business Summit 2010 in Dublin, Ireland at a very special awards night on 17 June 2010.
