Guinness recognises the ‘vital ingredient’

One of the greatest names in sports sponsorship is backing the Stadium Business Awards 2010. Guinness – a global brand synonymous with marketing innovation and blockbuster television adverts – is backing the inaugural international Stadium Business Awards in Dublin.

"Guinness is delighted to support the Stadium Business Awards 2010 and to play our part in recognising the outstanding achievements of sports venues that welcome and host millions of fans every day,” comments Rory Sheridan Sponsorship Manager of Guinness at Diageo Ireland. “As a major sports sponsor globally, Guinness recognises that the quality, safety and entertainment value of the venues in which our sponsorships are hosted form a vital ingredient to the overall success of the sponsorship experience for all involved.”

He adds: ”Our support of these awards shows our appreciation for all the great sports stadiums and their operators around the world."

Guinness, one of the key brands of international conglomerate Diaego, has been a backer of Ireland’s popular Gaelic sports for many decades – and has been credited for its part in the upsurge in interest and support for hurling. The brand also has a long association with rugby including sponsorship of the upcoming British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa, London Irish, Ireland RFU and the Hong Kong Sevens.

With Ireland knocked out in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers (no thanks to that Thierry Henry ‘’hand-flip’ goal), the marketing team at Guinness went looking for a new team to back. Always a little different, Guinness announced it was backing the Nigerian football team in South Africa this June.

The winners of the 2010 Stadium Business Awards in association with Guinness will be announced during the Stadium Business Summit 2010 in Dublin, Ireland at a very special awards evening at Guinness Storehouse on 17 June 2010.
